Shoreham at Hollingbourne

Shoreham Cricket Club were the latest visitors to Hollingbourne in the Kent County Village League.

Almost as certain as death and taxes, the afternoon took on a familiar feel…

Shoreham decided to bat first and made a decent start, but fortunately for them, Lewis Bedwell was late and missed the start of the game while Dan Pritchard also missed the first few overs due to a missing pair of trousers!!

Dave Charlton made the initial breakthrough and removed one of the openers for 32 with Lewis Bedwell (eventually) joining the party and taking the wicket of the other opener for 19. At this point, the visitors collapsed with no other batsman reaching double figures.

Lewis Bedwell managed to get his name on the legendary Hollingbourne boards with 5 for 12 from 6 overs and Dan Pritchard provided good support with 3 for 15 from 4 overs (What would the score have been if those two had managed to take to the field on time???).

Tom Hughes again chipped in with another wicket which saw Shoreham post a total of 84.

We were quickly back out to bat (tea could wait) and although we lost 3 wickets on the way, the match was over before anyone got close to a sandwich or cake.

Andy Griffiths lead the way with 30 and his opening partner Leo Charlton scored 16. Finally, 15 not out from Dave Charlton saw us over the line with another maximum points haul that kept us top of the league.
