Speldhurst’s Visit

Speldhurst came to Hollingbourne on Saturday 13th May for our first home league game of the season.

Our Skipper managed to buck his usual trend and emerged victorious from the coin toss, deciding to let our visitors bat first.

What followed, was short and sweet. In fact, our opposition summed things up quite well with two simple tweets:

The wickets were spread out between the four bowlers we used with Lewis Bedwell, Adam Doggett and Sam Kingsman-Ali all notching up two each and Tom Hughes chipping in with one. A run-out, an unfortunate injury and the lack of an 11th man saw Speldhurst reach a total of 52.

After a quick turnaround, Andy Griffiths provided a counting to 5 and pinching the strike batting masterclass which saw him reach 100 league runs for the season with an unbeaten 48. Sam Kingsman-Ali managed 2 not out from the 8 balls he faced and the game was won after 6.3 Speldhurst overs.
